The first five minutes of a lockout
- Try every other way in that does not involve force: the terrace door, a neighbour or cleaner with a key, the landlord or agency.
- Do not climb to a balcony or lever a window or shutter. A broken frame costs more than any lock, and on a rental it is charged to you.
- Find the exact address or share your location. In an urbanisation, note the phase and block number.
- Look at the door and lock so you can describe them: one keyhole or two, a wide armoured door, a thumb-turn on the inside.

Why we won’t promise you ten minutes
Plenty of adverts promise arrival in fifteen minutes anywhere, at any hour. Nobody can keep that across a city of more than 360,000 people plus nine neighbouring towns, and you find out standing on a landing at midnight. Questions from people standing outside their door
- Is the phone really answered at 3 in the morning?
- Yes. Calls are answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, public holidays included, and the work is carried out at night too, not booked for the morning. Being reachable is not the same as being there in ten minutes, which is why you get an honest estimate rather than a promise.
- Does a night or Sunday call cost more?
- Whatever the hour, you hear the full price on the phone before anyone sets off, so there is no surprise supplement at the door.
- My key snapped in the lock. Should I try to pull it out?
- Only if a clear piece is sticking out and comes with a gentle pull using pliers. Superglue, tweezers and pushing the stub further in make the extraction slower and sometimes cost the cylinder. Leave it and tell us which way the key was turned when it broke.
- I have lost my keys. Do I need the lock changed afterwards?
- If the keys were lost with anything that shows your address, such as a wallet or a tagged keyring, yes, change the cylinder the same visit. If they simply fell somewhere on the beach with nothing attached, it is your call, and we will say so plainly.
- I am a tenant. Can I call you, or does it have to be the owner?
- You can call. We open the door once we can confirm you live there. If a lock needs replacing, it is worth letting your landlord or agency know, and we can speak to them in Spanish if that helps.
