Aluminium and uPVC Door Locks Repaired in Alicante
A terrace door that slides shut and does not catch, a handle that goes down without locking anything, a door you have to lift to close. These are mechanism faults on aluminium and uPVC frames, and nearly all of them are repairs, not replacements.
Symptoms, and what is usually behind them
- The latch no longer catches when you slide the door shut Worn rollers have let the door sink, so the hook passes under the keeper.
- The handle goes down but the door will not lock A broken gearbox or a snapped connecting rod in the multipoint strip.
- You have to lift the door to lock it Hinges or rollers out of adjustment; the bolts are hitting the frame.
- The door drags along the track Grit and sand in the track, or a collapsed roller.
- The key turns but nothing moves The cylinder cam has worn or the mechanism behind it has come apart.

Aluminium and uPVC door questions
- Can a sliding door lock be repaired, or does the whole door need replacing?
- Almost always repaired. Rollers, keepers, hook locks, handles and cylinders are all replaceable parts. The frame only becomes the problem if it has been bent, for example in a forced entry.
- Is it safe to leave a sliding terrace door with a broken lock for a few days?
- On a ground floor or a terrace reachable from outside, no. A broken sliding door can usually be lifted off its track. We can make it lock temporarily the same day and come back with the part.
- Do you replace glass or whole frames?
- No. We work on the locking side: mechanisms, rollers, handles, cylinders, keepers and adjustment. For glazing or a new frame you need a carpintería de aluminio, and we will tell you honestly if that is where the fault lies.
- Can you add a lock to a sliding door that only has a latch?
- In most aluminium sliding doors, yes: a keyed hook lock or an additional surface lock can be fitted. Send a photo of the edge of the door and the frame and we will say what fits.
